I've been running my personal blog on my own website for coming up on a year now, and I've really enjoyed learning as much as I have about zola, jekyll, static site generators, and modern web design.
for the past year, I've been writing my own blogs on my static site hosted by gitlab pages, and while I appreciate the versatility this has offered me, I find myself consistently struggling to update my blog independent of my website. I recently had a friend teach me in-depth how to use branches to do just this, and I learned a lot.
however, I am in the process of moving off of gitlab pages and using kitsunes.dev as my new host, and from what I can understand, they do not support deployment of static site generators. This is fine, as I've been considering/meaning to make the leap to purely coding by hand anyway; and while I'm perfectly capable of coding my own blog entries by hand, I do find it a smidge tedious and distracting. (AuDHD brain 😩)
bearblog (this website!) has been on my radar for the better part of the past year, but I definitely don't have the energy to maintain two whole blogs, so I've kind of just let the idea of blagging here wiggle around wobblywise inside my brainspace.
with the upcoming move to coding purely by hand and changing hosts, this seems like as good a time as any to begin posting here and see how I like it! (^ω^)💦
i may move my old entries here in the interest of preservation, if I can figure out finangling dates, perhaps. It wouldn't do to smoosh my 12 or so entries all into the discovery feed at once...that feels rude!💦💦
anyway, it's nice to meet you, bearblog!
